New Release of CONNX SQL Engine, Version 10.5, Now Supports the IMS Module and Unlocks Enterprise Data on the z/Linux Platform

CONNX Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of simplified data access management and integration software solutions, announces the release of CONNX 10.5, which is available today for demonstration and evaluation. This release features a CONNX adapter for the IMS database and support for the CONNX client running in z/Linux environment.

The CONNX IMS adapter supports the following features:

• Native Java™ and WebSphere® support.

• GUI based import of PSBs (Program Specification Blocks) into CONNX metadata.

• Multiple PSB support of joins across multiple IMS hierarchies.

• RACF/Top Secret security

• Full transaction support that performs inserts, updates and deletes in a complete unit of work.

This new CONNX IMS adapter will allow users to:

• perform seamless joins between IMS and one or more of the 40 supported disparate databases using ODBC, OLE DB, JDBC and .NET. In addition, those adapters allow CONNX to provide secure, real-time, read/write access to IMS data.

• view data as if it existed in a single federated relational database, in which secure read/write real time access to enterprise data sources is provided.

• be security conscious, because CONNX respects all existing database security and the 128-bit encrypted CONNX Data Dictionary (CDD) guarantees the security of sensitive information.

This release also includes:

• a native z/Linux implementation of the powerful CONNX SQL Engine, enabling deployments of all of the CONNX technology on the mainframe under z/Linux, including both JDBC and ODBC support.

• significant enhancements for users of the Adabas SQL Gateway, including improved use of descriptors (indexes), and multi-fetch technology, which results in greater performance.
